Registration Information for Newcomers
A rookie is any swimmer who did not participate in the RMSC program in either the Fall/Winter 05/06 or the Spring/Summer 06.
Registration Information for Returning Swimmers
A veteran is any swimmer who swam with RMSC last year either in the Fall/Winter 05/06 or the Spring/Summer 06.
Practice groups at Olney are classified into two main levels: Developmental Groups and Advanced Groups.

Rookie Week Tryout and Evaulation
Who can join RMSC? Any swimmer who can swim one length of the pool demonstrating good rhythmic breathing can join the Rockville-Montgomery Swim Club. Most beginning winter swimmers register with the team between the ages of 5 and 12. Usually they have completed the MCRD lesson series or at least one season of summer swim team
All rookies to the RMSC program at Olney may try out for group placement and evaluate our program Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, September 6-8, according to the following schedule. Coaches will assign practice groups depending on skill level. Swimmers should try to attend 1 of the following:
13 years and older - 4:00-4:45 pm
11-12 years - 5:00-5:45 pm
9-10 years - 6:00-6:45 pm
8 years and under - 6:15-7:00 pm
Rookies may begin regular practices with their assigned group when registration forms have been completed and both registration and program fees have been paid.
All returning swimmers should pre-register for the Fall/Winter 06/07 program. To do this, you can get a registration form at OSC. Do not change your practice group assignment unless instructed to so by a coach. Complete the form, attach separate payments for the registration fee and the program fee, and return them before September 1. Afternoon practices begin Monday, September 11 for all groups. Beginning with the Fall/Winter 2005-2006 season, a new fee payment structure is being implemented. The registration fee has been abolished, and those monies have been incorporated into the program fee. Only one payment to MCRD is required and is due in full at registration. They payment includes the USA Swimming membership fee and all the meet fees for the Fall/Winter season. Installment fees and payment plans are no longer available.

Developmental: These groups are open to all swimmers who meet the prerequisite skill levels. The emphasis in these practice groups will be primarily in the areas of stroke mechanics and instruction. Meet participation will be encouraged but not required.
Advanced: These groups are open to RMSC swimmers by invitation of the coaching staff. The emphasis in these practice groups will including conditioning and endurance work. Participation in USA Swimming meets will be required of swimmers in these groups.
