Triathlon Training
Starting this January the Rockville Swim and Fitness Center will begin a special training program for Triathletes. Participants of all fitness levels are welcome. USAT Certified Triathlon Coach, Christina Dorrer, is an exciting new addition to the center staff and will be offering the following new courses.
Group Triathlon Training—NEW! Whether you are planning your first sprint or an ultra-distance triathlon, train with a certified USAT coach. During the weekly training session, participants will be working on the fundamentals of the triathlon disciplines - swimming, biking and running. In addition, athletes will practice transitioning and discuss proper race day nutrition and hydration. A typical class workout may include the following: a functional warm-up, TRI specific strength exercises, an indoor cycling workout on your own bike, running (treadmill and outdoor), swimming, core strength and flexibility. A bike (tri, road or mountain) and an indoor bike trainer (available at most bike shops or on-line) are needed for this class. Other basic equipment required includes a helmet, goggles, swim attire and sneakers. Your coach will provide a basic training plan with weekly workouts for beginner sprint distance athletes. More advanced athletes can request personalized plans from the coach; however, they are not included with this class. Participants should be physically prepared to begin a triathlon training program, but may be beginner or advanced in swimming, biking or running. When necessary, the class will be broken up according to ability. This Triathlon Training Workout is enhanced when taken in combination with Swim for Fitness, Triathlon Swim Clinic, or the Masters Swim Class.

Rockville Swim and Fitness Center/Dorrer
Triathlon Swim Clinic—NEW! Triathlon specific swim clinics are designed to develop endurance and speed with swim practice that focuses on proper breathing, stroke efficiency, technique drills, sighting, drafting, passing, mass start simulation, and close contact swimming. We will also discuss open water swim tips, various start and finish tips, and learn exercises to improve core and swim specific strength.

Dash and Splash Aquathon Event: Sunday, Feb. 26
Treadmill walk/run to see how far you can go in 20 minutes. Transition time is 10 minutes to get to the South pool. Swim 20 minutes and see how many laps you can complete. Choose your start time (five people per wave, first come first served).
