Judy Byron
1989 (Woodcut Triptych)
Washington, D.C.
Artist's Statement:
"My concept for this triptych embrace two themes: "Lincoln
Park speaks to us of generations”; and "There are lessons
for us all in Lincoln Park".
The panels on either side within the triptych are intended to reflect
the consistent working presence of the older citizens of Lincoln Park.
These portraits are meant to act as guardians or sentinels to the
large middle panel. To communicate the spirit of Lincoln Park outside
the neighborhood, two prints of the middle panel will be permanently
exhibited at sites in

the
larger Rockville Community, and five thousand postcards of the image
will be available for free distribution throughout the City.
This work, based upon photographs I took of Lincoln Park residents
at their Community Center and in their backyards, has allowed me to
continue to explore my nostalgia for my own working class roots."
Budget: $15,000 |
