Warrenton, Virginia

Artist’s Statement:

“The architectural setting and the large format of the wall at City HalI lent themselves to a sprawling frieze-like composition. I inquired as to what was the most important single event in the city, involving many people, and was told that it was the Memorial Day Parade. I felt that this would be an ideal subject matter, since it allowed for many figures in different groups providing a natural cross-section of citizens within the community. The rest was orchestrating these elements into a whole that would be a reflection of the community and be appropriate for City Hall.”

Budget $35,000
