Sirpa Yarmolinsky
1981 (Linen, Paper)
Garrett Park, Maryland
Artist’s Statement:
“Both linen and paper are used here for their ability to appeal
to the tactile as well as the visual imagination. The repeated verticals
of innocent blue tipped in biting reds called to mind a bittersweet
Creole song with the rhythmic, evocative title “Salangadou.”
The rhythm inherent in the processing of fiber can impart to art in
this medium a musical structure that I seek to emphasize in many of
my works in fiber and in paper.”
Budget: $1,470
