The following rates are in effect from July 1, 2006 through June 30, 2007, but rates and rules are subject to change at the discretion of City management.

PLEASE NOTE: The Social Hall, one large room that accommodates up to 225 people, is located beneath the F. Scott Fitzgerald Theatre; therefore the Social Hall is not available when there is a production in the Theatre. There is limited availability due to the popularity of the theatre.

  • The Social Hall is available Friday or Saturday until 1 a.m. and Sundays until 11 p.m.
  • The rental fee includes use of the multi-purpose Social Hall, the kitchen, the patio and the surrounding grounds. The rental times designated on the contract includes all delivery/pick up time, set up time, and clean up time. The tables and chairs are included in the rental fee, but linens need to be provided by the user group or caterer.
  • There will be a Social Event Host on duty to open and close the facility and to provide direction on proper and safe usage of the facility. The Social Event Host will require user groups to sign in, sign out and fill out a form for any exception that is not listed on the set up sheet for which charges may be incurred.

Hold Policy

Contracting an open date for the Social Hall is on a first-come, first-served basis. An open (available) date may be put on hold for 4 business days. Failure to sign a contract and present the down payment before the close of business on the fourth day will result in the date becoming "open" and available to others at 8:30 a.m. on the next business day. Please pay specific attention to the hold dates.

Reservations

Reservations are accepted up to 15 months in advance for Non-Rockville residents or 18 months in advance for Rockville residents. Please call for availability.

  • $100 change of date Fee
  • $100 extra for all events occurring on a holiday

Down Payment

A $500 down payment is due at the signing of the contract. The remaining balance and security deposit are due two months prior to the event.

Security Deposit

A $500 security deposit is required two months prior to your event to be used towards any damages, early-in time, additional services, clean-up fees or late departure. If no charges are incurred, the deposit will be refunded to the address listed on the check within 10 working days after the event.

Cancellations

Cancellations must be received in writing from the person whose name appears on the signature line of the contract. The cancellation date is the date that the written notice is received in the office. If your event is cancelled more than 120 days prior to the date of the event, $300 of the down payment will be forfeited. If your event is cancelled 120 days (or less) before the date of the event, the entire down payment will be forfeited. If your event is cancelled 60 days (or less) before the event date, the entire rental fee will be forfeited. If we are able to re-book the date of your cancelled event, then all but $100 will be returned (to the person who made the payment).

Posting of Signs

  • Prior approval by Civic Center Staff is required for all signs. 
  • Interior signage or decoration is limited to use of floral wire or blue painters tape (No masking/scotch tape).
  • Exterior signage is restricted to ground stakes only (No posting or tacking on permanent fixtures).
  • Unapproved signage will be removed and discarded at the discretion of Civic Center Staff.
  • The Civic Center Staff is not responsible for signs that have been removed.
  • The user group/person named on the contract will be charged for repairs to any damage as a result of posting signs.

Rules and Regulations

  • Chairs and tables are available for use, but the user group must furnish all linens and decorations.
  • All catering services, ice, and auxiliary services need to be provided by the user group. The user group is responsible for assuring the caterer is properly licensed and complies with all applicable laws and ordinances.
  • Delivery of catering items, decorating, and other assorted items can only be made during the hours stated on the contract. No items may be delivered prior to the day of the event, as there is no storage space available. Catering equipment and other items may not be stored overnight. Please plan to remove all items immediately after the event shuts down and within the contracted hours.
  • NO SMOKING is allowed inside the Social Hall. Smoking urns are located outside.
  • Any damages will be charged to the person who signed the contract.

Social Hall Kitchen

The kitchen is conducive to heating and warming only (no cooking is permitted). Please note that the maximum temperature of the warming oven is 200°.

The kitchen contains:

  • 1-warming oven   
  • 1-upright freezer
  • 1-2 cabinet refrigerator
  • 3-single compartment sinks
  • 1-food disposal unit and spray nozzle 
  • 20-6’x30” Buffet/Bar tables w/30” drop 
  • 9-6’ Round tables w/30” drop 
  • 1-4' Round tables 
  • 225 Metal Folding Chairs

Social Hall Rules:

  • A representative from the catering company must be present for the entire event.
  • NO cooking, frying, or preparing food that extends beyond heating/warming. Dry pasta may be boiled to cook.
  • Do not use open flame food containers or equipment that promotes a “Cook to Order” or “Cook Your Own” type of arrangement. (Examples: skillet, grill, wok, and deep fry cooking). Chafing dishes are acceptable. If in doubt whether your catering plans area acceptable, contact the Civic Center Superintendent.
  • Beverage stations are permitted.
  • All equipment must be removed at the end of the event. The City of Rockville is not responsible for lost items.
  • The catering service vehicle must be parked in a designated parking space after unloading the equipment and other supplies.
  • The traffic circle in front of the Social Hall must remain open for emergency use.

Clean Up

  • The user group must clear off all tabletops and counters throughout the facility.
  • The kitchen needs to be cleaned thoroughly after use; clean all appliances, sinks, counter tops, and disposals.
  • The user group must remove all decorations.
  • Trashcans are available. The user group must remove all trash to the dumpster outside.
