Virtual School Programs

Our mission at Croydon Creek Nature Center is to promote and enhance the knowledge, understanding, appreciation and protection of our natural resources. Our virtual school programs incorporate challenging and thought-provoking activities that enhance children’s natural curiosity about the world.

In response to the virtual school formats that many schools have temporarily adopted, Croydon Creek Nature Center is excited to offer these online science education programs that bring our center into your virtual classroom! Programs are designed to be 20-30 minutes in length and bring our dynamic naturalists to your students through your online portal.

Programs are free for the 2020-2021 school year for all public and private schools. Program inquiries can be emailed to ccnc@rockvillemd.gov

Weather the Impact

Grade: 3rd
Time Length: 30min

Weather and climate are two different phenomena with major impacts on our lives. Explore the differences between what you expect (climate) and what actually happens (weather) while discovering ways that both shape our world.

Habitat Explorers

Grade: PreK-K
Time Length: 30min

All living things have the same basic needs: Food, water, shelter, and space. Our naturalists will introduce students to our animal ambassadors and help students learn how different plants and animals meet their basic needs.

NGSS Standards: K-LS1-1, K-ESS3-1, K-ESS3-3

Investigating Habitats

Grade: 2nd-3rd
Time Length: 30min

Each habitat has different features and is home to many different types of animals. Students will get to meet some of our animal ambassadors as they learn how animals are adapted to live in certain habitats.

Life Cycle Discoveries

Grade: 1st-3rd
