Salt Watch Community Science Initiative

Road salt helps keep winter roads safe, but too much of it can harm wildlife, damage infrastructure, and even affect our drinking water. Join staff from the Izaak Walton League of America to explore the impacts of road salt and discover how you can test for pollution in your community. Participants will receive smart salting guides, measuring cups, and Salt Watch kits. Bring a clean, sealed water sample from a nearby stream, lake, pond, or even your tap to test during the program! Ages 14+. Registration begins Dec. 2 for Rockville Residents. General registration begins Dec. 4.
