The Parks Are Open, But Lights To Stay Off At Rockville Parks

The parks are open, but lights at City of Rockville outdoor courts and sports fields will remain off during evening and nighttime hours, beginning Saturday, March 21.

An executive order issued by Gov. Larry Hogan prohibits gatherings of more than 10 people, reducing public contact in an effort to slow the spread of the COVID-19 virus. The order applies to social, cultural and community gatherings.

Bathrooms at Rockville’s parks are closed. While social distancing guidelines are in effect, the city does not recommend that children use play equipment, as COVID-19 can remain viable on surfaces for hours or longer.

If you visit a park:

  • Keep a safe distance. (Six feet or more.)
  • Avoid touching surfaces.
  • Avoid groups of 10 or more people.
  • Refrain from touching playground equipment.
  • Avoid activities that share equipment or involve touching.
