Police Seek Information in Hit-and-Run Involving Rockville Police Cruiser

Rockville, Maryland, Nov. 1 – Police are seeking information about a rear-end hit-and-run crash involving an unmarked Rockville City Police Department police cruiser today on Interstate 270. 

Just after noon, the police cruiser was traveling northbound on I-270 when it was struck from behind by a white Volkswagen four-door. The impact pushed the cruiser into the rear of a vehicle in the left lane. The Volkswagen then moved to the right lane before using the right shoulder of the roadway to flee the scene, into Frederick County.

There were no injuries.

Video of the incident, and a still frame from the video, is available below. The license tag of the striking vehicle is not clearly visible in the video or still frame. The vehicle may have damage to its front.
