Veterans Day in Rockville Brings Closures and a Salute to Those Who Served

Rockville, Maryland, Nov. 5 – Several city facilities will be closed for Veterans Day, Thursday, Nov. 11, when the city will honor veterans of our nation’s armed forces with its annual Veterans Day ceremony.

 

City government, the Rockville Senior Center, Glenview Mansion, the Rockville Civic Center business office, and the F. Scott Fitzgerald Theatre box office will be closed. 

 

Theater tickets are always available at www.rockvillemd.gov/theatre

 

Croydon Creek Nature Center will be open 10 a.m.-2 p.m. 

 

All other city facilities will open as usual. 

 

Recycling, trash and yard waste normally collected on Thursdays will be collected Friday, Nov. 12. For more information, visit www.rockvillemd.gov/recycling-trash or call 240-314-8568.

 

Parking will be free at city-owned meters.

 The city’s Veterans Day ceremony is scheduled for 11 a.m. at Veterans Park, at the intersection of MD 28 and Rockville Pike. Free parking will be available at Sandy Spring Bank, 611 Rockville Pike. 

 

The ceremony, which is open to the public, will include a wreath laying, a presentation of colors by the Rockville Police Honor Guard and a keynote address by Theresa Elliott, a Navy veteran and intelligence professional from Rockville. 

 

A reception will follow at American Legion Post 86, 2013 Veirs Mill Road.
