Description:

This project is for the construction of the Rockville Intermodal Access - Baltimore Road Improvements, with proposed work along Baltimore Road from Norbeck Road (MD 28) to East of Twinbrook Parkway and with proposed spot improvements at the Baltimore Road / South Horners Lane, Baltimore Road / Grandin Avenue and Park Road / Grandin Avenue intersections.

 

From Norbeck Road to East of Twinbrook Parkway, the project includes construction of full depth asphalt pavement and pavement resurfacing; new curb and gutter; new 5-foot wide concrete and pervious concrete sidewalks; new 8-foot wide concrete, pervious concrete and asphalt shared use paths; new bus stops and pedestrian ramps; new storm drain and existing storm drain modifications; relocation of City of Rockville-owned water and sewer mains, and house connections; a major culvert replacement, removal of existing structures (driveway culvert and pre-fabricated pedestrian bridge), and stream stabilization along Croydon Creek near Calvin Park and Rockville Cemetery; new pavement markings; tree preservation and landscaping.

 

At the intersections of Baltimore Road / South Horners Lane and Baltimore Road / Grandin Avenue, the project includes construction of new curb bump-outs, sidewalks and pedestrian ramps; pavement resurfacing; and restriping.

 

At the intersection of Park Road / Grandin Avenue, the project includes construction of new sidewalks and pedestrian ramps; and new storm drainage.

 

All work on this project shall conform to the Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration’s (MSHA) Standard Specifications for Construction and Materials, revisions thereof or additions thereto; the plans; the technical specifications; and the Special Provisions of the project.

VIRTUAL PRE-BID CONFERENCE:

A virtual, telepresence pre-bid meeting will be held on
TUESDAY, JUNE 9, 2020 AT 02:00 PM. Bidders must register below in order to attend the meeting.  This meeting is not mandatory; however, bidders are strongly encouraged to attend.  Individuals interested in viewing the vicinity of the work are encouraged to do so independently, and in a socially distanced manner, prior to the pre-bid meeting.  Bidders shall assume complete responsibility and liability for any and all visits.

DEADLINE FOR QUESTIONS

Questions pertaining to this bid may be directed to Jonathan Pierson, Principal Buyer via email only at no later than 10:00 AM, THURSDAY, JUNE 18, 2020.  Oral answers to questions relative to interpretation of specification or the bid process will not be binding on the City. When submitting questions include the following information in the email subject line:
