Chronic muscular, skeletal and neurologic problems are due to chronic inflammatory, degenerative and mechanical disorders. Treatment is meant to lessen the pain and disability. Much treatment is medication based. Medications may be given orally, topically, by injections or otherwise. This talk will provide an overview of such conditions and their non-surgical treatments with medications. Pros and cons of different groups of medications and their delivery methods will be discussed. Newer non-opioid as well as biologic drugs are all meant to slow down the disease process and reduce suffering from pain. Presented by Dr. M. We have more elders around us than ever before who can personally describe retirement, second careers, kayaking, living with chronic illness, volunteering and embracing a spiritual life. Yet even with these resources we feel increasingly unprepared. The fear that aging as a long decline can infiltrate our expectations and relationships. What do we do with these fears? Rockville Seniors, Inc. (RSI) was created by the Mayor and Council to ensure that the quality of life of all Rockville senior citizens is improved through a properly supported senior center. RSI recruits volunteers to run the gift and thrift shop, book sales and bazaars, and weekly bingo, just to name a few of the current fundraisers. Proceeds from the fundraisers as well as donations to the corporation support the annual senior center budget, and center needs such as supplies, furniture and equipment.

Get outside this summer and get into Rockville’s free outdoor movies in the parks on the big screen, each Wednesday, August 7-28. Bring chairs, blankets, food and beverages, and enjoy four different movies at four different neighborhood parks throughout the city. Movies begin at dusk (approximately 8 p.m.) and are free. Last year, more than 300 guests attended each week.
Carmen's Italian Ice will be available for purchase. A portion of their sales will benefit the Rockville Recreation and Parks Foundation.
