Chronic muscular, skeletal and neurologic problems are due to chronic inflammatory, degenerative and mechanical disorders. Treatment is meant to lessen the pain and disability. Much treatment is medication based. Medications may be given orally, topically, by injections or otherwise. This talk will provide an overview of such conditions and their non-surgical treatments with medications. Pros and cons of different groups of medications and their delivery methods will be discussed. Newer non-opioid as well as biologic drugs are all meant to slow down the disease process and reduce suffering from pain. Presented by Dr. M. Michael Massumi, Physical Medicine, Rehabilitation & Pain Management.

Rockville Seniors, Inc. (RSI) was created by the Mayor and Council to ensure that the quality of life of all Rockville senior citizens is improved through a properly supported senior center. RSI recruits volunteers to run the gift and thrift shop, book sales and bazaars, and weekly bingo, just to name a few of the current fundraisers. Proceeds from the fundraisers as well as donations to the corporation support the annual senior center budget, and center needs such as supplies, furniture and equipment.

Join the Rockville Bicycle Advisory Committee for a casual neighborhood ride that will last about one hour. Routes are on paved, shared-use paths, some sidewalks, and some short sections of quiet streets. We ride at the pace of the slowest rider - no one gets left behind. Rain at start cancels the ride; wet pavement does not. Check out www.meetup.com/bikerockville for more impromptu rides and last-minute changes.
