Dear New Rockville Resident, Estimado nuevo residente de Rockville On behalf of the Rockville City Council, I would like to welcome you to the community. If you’re not familiar already with the City of Rockville, there’s a lot our community has to offer. Here are a few quick facts about Rockville: - Rockville has 58,000 residents, across approximately 20,000 households.
- Our community is one of the most diverse and international in the world, with over one-third of our residents having been born outside the United States, coming from virtually every country in the world.
- Our city is an economic engine with nearly 80,000 jobs within our border. Our city’s jobs-to-households ratio of nearly 4:1 is unrivaled in the region.
- Rockville has a rich history going back over 250 years. Rockville was named the county seat of Montgomery County in 1776.
Another distinguishing feature of our community is the city government, which continues to strive to make Rockville one of the nation’s very best places to live and work. Along this line, we were especially pleased that Money Magazine ranked Rockville No. 26 in its 2006 list of “Best Places to Live in the United States.” One aspect of life in Rockville that we are proud of is the wide range of cultural and recreational opportunities available in our community. We are planning to continue this tradition in Rockville’s new downtown, with a number of exciting events that we’ll be hosting there, including Live It Up! 101 Days of Events in Rockville Town Center that will run from Memorial Day through Labor Day. To help you learn more about Rockville, we’ve provided the links on this web page to some of the information that’s available on the city government’s website. If ever you have a question, suggestion or concern, please do not hesitate to contact me or others in the city government. A good point of contact is our City Manager, Scott Ullery, who can be reached at 240-314-8100 and sullery@rockvillemd.gov. Again, welcome to the City of Rockville. Thanks for making our community your home. Sincerely, Mayor Susan Hoffmann Councilmember John Britton Councilmember Piotr Gajewski Councilmember Phyllis Marcuccio Councilmember Anne Robbins
