Parking Tickets
Motorists could face $250 fines for illegally parking near fire hydrants, in fire lanes or in designated handicap parking spaces after the Mayor and Council approved increases that bring fines in the City of Rockville in line with those of neighboring jurisdictions.
The City of Rockville issues parking tickets for illegally parked vehicles on public streets, on city property, on county property and private property within the city limits of Rockville.
Private Property
The City of Rockville can only issue the following parking tickets on private property:
- Handicap Only
- No Parking - Fire Lane
- No Parking within 15ft of a Fire Hydrant
- No Parking without Consent of Owner
Exception: This does not apply to properties that have an agreement with the City of Rockville to enforce all violations.
Ways to Pay a Ticket:
- Online - If you are paying a handwritten ticket, please be sure to put a "01" in front of the RCP followed by the five digits. Ex: 01RCP12345.
- By Phone, 1-866-786-0415 - Handwritten tickets can not be paid by phone, only online or in-person.
- In-person at the Rockville Police Department or City Hall.
Dispute a Ticket
To dispute a ticket, you must email your complaint to parking_enforcement@rockvillemd.gov. Please include either a ticket number or a license plate.
If the Parking Enforcement division upholds the ticket, further action can be taken to request a court date by filling out the information on the back of your ticket and returning to the Rockville Police Department in person or by mail. We must receive your request in person by the 15th day or if mailing it must be post marked by the 15th day of the violation date.

Late Fees
All fines must be paid within 15 days of the date of the ticket to avoid penalties. A penalty fee of $10 will be assessed after on the 16th day and again on the 31st day from the date of the violation. After 30 days, we will notify the State Motor Vehicle Administration and additional fees may be added.
Repeated delinquency can lead to the vehicle being towed at the owner’s expense.
