Public Transit Options
Planned Transit Facilities
The Montgomery County Department of Transportation currently leads an effort to design a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system in Montgomery County, including within the City of Rockville. BRT is a specialized service that uses limited stops and dedicated bus-only lanes to provide faster and more frequent transit.
Staff from the Montgomery County Department of Transportation presented to the Mayor and Council on Jan. 22, 2024. View the presentation slides and the recording of the presentation.
There are three BRT initiatives that will provide transit service to Rockville. More information about each of these projects, as well as opportunities to sign up for informational updates, can be found at the following links:
- The MD 355 BRT Project will provide service along MD 355 throughout Rockville.
- The Veirs Mill Road BRT Project will provide service along Veirs Mill Road to the Rockville Metro station.
- The Great Seneca Transit Network Project will provide transit service through the King Farm neighborhood to the Shady Grove Metro station.
