Communications and Community Engagement Department

The City of Rockville’s Communications and Community Engagement Department shares city news with the public and is committed to including everyone in all we do, helping to make Rockville one of the best places to live, work, and play.

The department’s mission is to inform, engage, and empower the community by providing timely and accessible information, creating meaningful dialogue, and ensuring that all voices are heard in the decision-making process.

Divisions

The department consists of two divisions: the Communications Division and the Community Engagement Division.

The Communications Division serves as the official voice of the city, managing all outreach and communication efforts. It provides a direct line of communication for news, press, and other media-related information to keep the public informed about what’s happening in Rockville. For more information, email pio@rockvillemd.gov.

The division includes six service areas:

  • Public information
  • Web and digital communications
  • Social media
  • PEG broadcast channel (Rockville 11)
  • Graphics
  • Copy/printing

As a member of the International Association of Public Participation (IAP2), the Community Engagement Division supports city departments and advises the Mayor and Council on fostering community engagement and public participation opportunities, to advance the city’s mission of providing valuable service to residents and stakeholders.
