The revamped Rockville Skate Park, stretching over 15,000 square feet, opened its doors in June 2021. Located next to the Rockville Swim and Fitness Center, the new park offers a family-friendly restroom, ample parking, and a stormwater management facility. The concrete park replaces the old wood and steel park, which opened in 2001. The old park had deteriorated after close to two decades in operation and was demolished.
Built by Spohn Ranch Skateparks, the new park features various obstacles and terrain, such as a kidney bowl, manual pads, and quarter pipes for riders of all skill levels. Complete with modern infrastructure and amenities including an entrance building, lighting, and landscaping, the new park was a necessary upgrade driven by community feedback. It maintains the same number of parking spaces for the Rockville Swim and Fitness Center complex.
