The Stormwater Management Utility Fee is a charge added to property taxes for all property owners, including homeowners, businesses, houses of worship, governments, and schools. The utility fee is used to help the city comply with state and federal clean water requirements and to maintain stormwater conveyance and treatment systems.
The current annual Stormwater Management Utility Fee is $159 per 2,330 square feet of impervious area. Each property was assessed by the city using aerial photography.
What the Stormwater Management Utility Fee Pays For
Repairing aging stormwater pipes and working on major projects flows through the stormwater system.
Gaining an understanding of the stormwater needs across the city by conducting watershed studies and plans.
Improving the city’s flood resiliency and implementing flood relief programs for property owners.
Investing in innovative, green stormwater projects that help offset impacts from development and reduce water pollution, such as stream restorations and stormwater pond retrofits.
Engaging residents in reducing stormwater pollution with outreach and education programs, projects, and volunteer opportunities.
Stormwater Management Utility Fee Credit
Storing stormwater helps manage how much water reaches storm drains and streams, and reduces water pollution and hazardous road flooding.
Owners of private stormwater management facilities may apply for a credit to reduce the property’s annual Stormwater Management Utility Fee.
Credits are typically for commercial properties with many impervious surfaces. View and download the Stormwater Management Utility Fee Credit Application.
