New GIS Web Map Speeds Data Discovery

January 27, 2017

A new geographic information system map on the city’s website incorporates property data with City of Rockville services and administrative data to provide one stop for a variety of information.

The Consolidated Parcel Information map is a convenient way to discover information for a site without having to consult multiple maps. It allows users to click on a parcel and access information associated with the particular location in a multipage pop-up format.

Information available includes:

  • Whether a parcel is inside or outside the city limits.
  • The city code enforcement area and inspector.
  • The locations and names of city historic districts.
  • Land use areas as adopted in the city’s 2002 Comprehensive Master Plan.
  • Residential areas represented by neighborhood associations.
  • Planning policy areas used by the city for citywide and neighborhood planning purposes.
  • Property parcel data from the State of Maryland Department of Planning and State Department of Assessments and Taxation.
  • Recycling and refuse collection days for specific addresses.
  • Election districts and polling places for City of Rockville elections.
  • Water service provider.
  • Zoning districts and zoning overlay designations.

The Parcel Information map and other maps will continue to be available as a single-topic maps. Note that the order of the pop-up pages on the Consolidated Parcel Information map cannot be controlled and not all data categories will exist at all locations.
