Flush Quarterbacks Not Trash

February 3, 2026

Illustration of a toilet on a sports field with a hand holding a trash bucket. Text reads: "Treat your toilet like an MVP. Toilets aren't trash cans." Confetti and stadium lights in the background.

Defense wins championships. A good defense in football will flush a quarterback from the pocket. And a good defense against costly clogs and sewer backups means never flushing trash down your toilet.

Flushing dental floss, sanitary napkins, tampons, hair, kitty litter, and even “flushable” wipes can cause costly clogs and sewer backups. Be sure your toilet bowl is a super bowl.

Protect your pipes and make sure trash ends up where it belongs — in your trash can. Because no one wants a backup at quarterback — or in their pipes — on gameday. Learn more about Rockville’s flushing problem at rockvillemd.gov/toilets-arent-trash-cans.
