What are the true stories behind some movies of the ‘80s? Many were based on real-life events and personalities. Explore what really happened and the story behind the story. Instructor: Joan Adams.

Three dramas bring real-life stories to the screen. “The Right Stuff,” based on Tom Wolfe’s book, follows Navy, Marine and Air Force test pilots at Edwards Air Force Base and the Mercury Seven. “Silkwood” tells the story of nuclear plant whistleblower Karen Silkwood, adapted from the book by Howard Kohn. “Without a Trace,” based on Beth Gutcheon’s novel “Still Missing,” is partly inspired by the real-life disappearance of Etan Patz.
