Rockville will turn out the lights in observance of Earth Hour, a global movement calling for action on climate change and protecting nature.
Earth Hour encourages residents and businesses to switch off all non-essential lights from 8:30-9:30 p.m. Saturday, March 28 as a visible show of support for the planet. The city will take part by turning off non-essential lighting at its Gude maintenance facility.
Earth Hour also invites the community to use this time to take positive action, such as unplugging electronics, taking a walk outdoors, stargazing or committing to environmental actions that can continue beyond the hour.
