Community Groups Sought for Memorial Day Parade

Rockville is seeking community groups and organizations to take part in its annual Memorial Day parade, and veterans and active-duty service members to speak at the city’s Memorial Day and Veterans Day ceremonies.

Applications are now available for organizations interested in participating in the city’s Memorial Day parade.
The 82nd annual Memorial Day Ceremony and Parade will take place from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Monday, May 25, in Rockville Town Center. Interested groups should review parade rules and eligibility requirements before applying. Applications must be submitted by Friday, April 3. Details and applications are available at rockvillemd.gov/memorialday.
In addition, Rockville is seeking veterans and active-duty military members to serve as featured speakers at its Memorial Day and Veterans Day ceremonies. Rockville and Montgomery County residents who currently serve or have retired from the United States military are eligible.
The Memorial Day ceremony will be held Monday, May 25. The Veterans Day ceremony will be held Wednesday, Nov. 11.
Volunteer speakers should be comfortable speaking in public and prepared to deliver a five- to seven-minute speech reflecting on their military experience, including what it means to serve and to honor those who have served.
