Charter Review Commission

The Charter Review Commission was established by the Mayor and Council in 2012 with Resolution 06-12 to review and evaluate the Rockville City Charter, a legal document similar to a constitution that establishes the city’s corporate limits and outlines how the city is organized and conducts business, such as holding elections, levying taxes, adopting ordinances, and providing services. Another Charter Review Commission was established in 2020 with Resolution 1A-20 and Resolution 09-20.

The commission’s 2012 report and 2022 report outline findings, recommendations, and proposals for amendments to the city’s charter.
