Compensation Commission
Established by Section 2-21 of the Rockville City Code, the Compensation Commission convenes every four years during an election year to provide a recommendation to the Mayor and Council on the annual compensation for elected city officials. Any change in compensation takes effect after that year’s election.
Members
The Compensation Commission consists of five members who must be residents of the city or have a place of business in the city. Terms begin Dec. 31 of the year they are appointed, running for four years or until successors are appointed.

Reports
The commission meets before Jan. 31 of each election year to discuss its mission of recommending possible changes to the salaries of the Mayor and Council. A recommendation is provided to the Mayor and Council by March 31 of the same year. Before making the recommendation, the commission seeks input from residents on various aspects of compensating the Mayor and Council, including how compensation should be determined, who should determine compensation, and the frequency of compensation.
