Cultural Arts Commission

Established by Section 4-16 of the Rockville City Code, the Cultural Arts Commission celebrates and promotes the fine and performing arts to reflect Rockville’s diversity and make the city a vibrant arts destination. One of the commission’s primary responsibilities is to recommend public art for the Art in Public Places Program. The commission also provides advice, upon request from an applicant, on a selection process to procure and implement publicly accessible art. In addition, the commission helps incubate and foster additional artistic and cultural events through its advisory role to the Mayor and Council. Read the commission’s 2025 annual report to learn more.

Members

The Cultural Arts Commission consists of 11 Rockville residents, many of whom are artists themselves, who serve overlapping three-year terms. Community members of all backgrounds are encouraged to take part and reflect Rockville’s diverse population.
