The City of Rockville takes seriously its responsibility to keep residents and businesses informed about proposed development changes in the community. Regular status updates are provided for major development applications as they move through the development review process. Major applications are those that require a public hearing or are otherwise significant in scope or impact.
Stay informed about major development applications, including recently submitted applications, revisions, and upcoming public meetings by:
- Viewing the interactive Development Watch Map or the project pages found below.
- Subscribing to the monthly Development Watch email newsletter.
- Signing up for meeting alerts in the “Development Review” category under “Meeting Alert Preferences.”
- Checking the calendar of upcoming meetings.
Any permits, licenses, plans, or applications associated with major development applications can be found through the city’s permit system. Learn more on the Search Permits and Property History page.
Cases listed on Development Watch may be subject to a prohibition on ex parte communications. Members of the deciding body for an application must refrain from communication about the application with interested parties outside of a public meeting. Making decisions based on a common public record provides for a fair and orderly process in which to consider and act on a particular matter. Any communication sent through emails or in writing to the deciding body on these applications will be forwarded to city staff, who will respond with answers to questions, as well as information on rules around communicating with members of the deciding body.
