Ban Would Prohibit Use in Food Service and Shipping
The Mayor and Council are scheduled to vote Monday, Dec. 11 on a proposed ban in the City of Rockville on the use of polystyrene in food plates, trays, containers or in loose fill for shipping packages.
Polystyrene is a petroleum-derived thermos plastic material that can be molded into various shapes and forms.
Comments about the proposed ban should be sent by 5 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 6, to Mark Charles, Chief of Environmental Management, City Hall, 111 Maryland Ave., Rockville MD 20850, or to mcharles@rockvillemd.gov.
