Peerless Honors Preservation, Stewardship and Advocacy

Annual Awards Celebrate Rockville’s Heritage

The 39th annual Peerless Rockville awards ceremony, held Nov. 2 at Normandie Farm restaurant in Potomac, recognized efforts to preserve Rockville’s historic and architectural character through projects, activities and programs. This year’s winners were:

1. Artist Paul Waclo, in the public art category, for his “An Eagle and Two Bears” sculpture in Horizon Hill Park.
2. Lou Harrington, for compatible infill, rehabilitation, and craftsmanship, at 209 Harrison St., by architects Miche Booz and Catherine Stratton Treadway.
3. Montgomery Housing Partnership for stewardship and rehabilitation at Beall’s Grant, 254 N. Washington St.
4. Dianne Fasolina, parks maintenance manager for the City of Rockville, for working with the community to enhance the playground at the Pump House, 401 S. Horners Lane.
5. Eileen McGuckian and Glenn Wallace, for community advocacy, for the Montgomery County Cemetery Inventory Revisited project.

Peerless Rockville is an award-winning, community-based nonprofit founded in 1974 to preserve buildings, objects and information important to Rockville’s heritage.
