Celebrate the Fourth Safely
June 28, 2022
The Fourth of July is a time to celebrate. But leave the fireworks to the professionals.
The city reminds residents that the private use and possession of fireworks, including sparklers, is illegal in Maryland and carries a $500 fine. Fireworks include firecrackers, skyrockets and Roman candles. Selling fireworks carries a $1,000 fine.
Fireworks were involved with an estimated 15,600 injuries in 2020, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.
To report illegal fireworks, call the RCPD’s non-emergency line at 240-314-8900.
