Stay Fit, Stay Healthy in September at the Senior Center

Stay healthy, informed and entertained with seminars and events from the Rockville Senior Center in September. 

The senior center will be closed Sept. 1-5 for asbestos remediation in the library.

Flu Shot Clinic 

Vaccines provided by Giant pharmacists. Bring your Medicare or insurance card. Shots will be charged to insurance. Register by calling 240‑314‑8800. Indicate whether you want high- or regular-dose flu shots. Other vaccines available are COVID, shingles, RSV and pneumonia. Walk-ins accepted.

Better Breather’s Club 

Information and tips for respiratory issues, presented by Kerri Donnelly, a Montcare and American Lung Association representative.

CAM Physical Therapy and Wellness Services LLC will share information about fall prevention, good posture benefits, fall risk factors, strategies to reduce falls and getting up safely.

From Brushing to Beyond: Essential Dental Care for Older Adults 

Learn how to prevent gum disease, maintain dentures and keep a strong bite. Presented by Suburban/ Johns Hopkins.

Senior Center English Program Adopts New Textbook Series 

The Rockville Senior Center English program will introduce the textbook series, “World English,” from National Geographic Learning, this fall. 

The series emphasizes global topics, real-world English usage and dynamic visuals in every lesson. It also features clear communication objectives, video-integrated activities and authentic listening and speaking exercises designed specifically for adult learners. 

The new materials reflect an ongoing commitment to delivering high-quality, relevant and engaging instruction, aiming to encourage conversation, connection and success among participants.
