Rockville’s Halloween Roundup: Where to Get Your Spook On

September 30, 2025

Halloween season in Rockville is about more than just candy — the city’s fall recreation guide is packed with themed events for every age, even four-legged family members. Visit rockville.com/registration and search for “Halloween” to find city events or use the course numbers listed below.

Croydon Creep 6-8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 18

Looking for a family-friendly scare that’s more treat than trick? Croydon Creep takes over Croydon Creek Nature Center at 852 Avery Road. The evening features free indoor festivities — Halloween games, crafts, magic, balloon twisters and a cozy campfire — with no registration required.

Kids can take part in a 30-minute nonspooky guided hike through the forest, meeting friendly woodland creatures and collecting goodies along the way. The hike requires advance tickets ($10 for residents, $12 for nonresidents), and an adult must accompany each child. Multiple time slots for hikes between 6-8 p.m. are available online at rockvillemd.gov/registration.

Mini-Creep 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 25

For toddlers and preschoolers aged 2–5 who want a taste of Halloween fun, just not so scary, Mini-Creep at Croydon Creek Nature Center is ideal. Sessions run from 9:30-10:30 a.m. (course #37761) and 11 a.m.-noon (course #37762). Enjoy festive games and crafts, and tasty treats. Tiny trick-or-treaters are invited to wear costumes and enjoy games, crafts and hands-on activities. Preregistration is required. The cost is $12 for residents or $15 for nonresidents.

Monster Mash Halloween Dance 7-9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 24

Elementary-aged kids can cut loose at the Monster Mash Halloween Dance at Twinbrook Community Recreation Center, 12920 Twinbrook Parkway. The party includes arts and crafts, face painting, dancing and other activities. Attendees are encouraged to dress in costume, though masks and props such as sticks or swords are prohibited. Refreshments will be sold by the Twinbrook Elementary School PTA. Register with course #38097.

Doggie Halloween Extravaganza 4-8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 29

Pups and their “paw-rents” are invited to Elwood Smith Community Center, 601 Harrington Road, for tail-wagging fun with doggy tricks, treats and a “bark-tacular” celebration. Costumes are suggested but not required; just make sure your dog is comfortable around other pets and people. Register with course #35154. The cost is $25 for residents and $30 for nonresidents.

Rockville Senior Center Halloween Costume Bash 11 a.m.-noon Friday, Oct. 31

Pull out a costume from the back of the closet, borrow one from a friend or create a fun look from whatever’s lying around the house. This event, at the senior center at 1150 Carnation Drive, will have music, dancing and a best costume contest with prizes. Register with course #37076. The cost is $3 for members, $5 for nonmembers.
