Puppets to Steam Punk: Performances at the Civic Center

October 30, 2025

Rockville will host a full lineup of performances this November and December, ranging from puppet shows and holiday classics to steampunk-themed murder mysteries and musical satire.

Learn “The Sharing Song” during Blue Sky Puppets’ “Pig Tales!” Welcome to Mrs. Picklebottom’s classroom, where she and her stu-dents, Suzy, Buster and Chester, have a full day ahead of them. How will they work together as a team to act in “The Three Billy Goats Gruff” and “Jack and the Beanstalk” while taking turns and not hurting feelings? Includes a craft project.

Tickets cost $7 for non-residents and $5 for residents aged 2 and older.

Visit fscottfitzgerald.showare.com/PigTales or register with course #37314 (11 a.m.) and #37316 (12:30 p.m.) at rockvillemd.gov/registration.

SteamedPunk! Ventures is due to drop their biggest app yet and energy billows through the office — but not all of it is positive. There’s a kink in the pipes and a few more among the staff. Will the team be able to keep the airship afloat or will the boiler burst before they land safely? Enjoy an outing riddled with clues and a buffet of sweet treats. Dress in steampunk attire for the chance to win a prize. Recommended for ages 15 and older.

Presented in partnership with A Taste For Murder Productions by Dean Fiala.

Tickets cost $40; $35 for students and seniors. Tickets plus optional buffet cost $70; $65 for students and seniors.
(Matinees now feature brunch.) All tickets include dessert and a cash bar for those 21 and older. Group pricing is available by calling the box office.

In a drought-stricken city where private toilets are outlawed and citizens must pay to pee, one unlikely hero decides he won’t take it sitting down and rises up to fight the system and spark a revolution.

“Urinetown” is a wickedly funny, razor-sharp satire that takes on capitalism, bureaucracy and even musical theater — flushing convention down the drain.

Tickets cost $26; $23 for students and seniors. Group pricing is available by calling the box office. Visit fscottfitzgerald.showare.com/Urinetown for tickets and information.

The Rockville Concert Band performs a concert of remembrance, storytelling and seasonal beauty under the direction of Christine Higley. Featured music will include “Chasing Sunlight” by Cait Nishimura, “Lincolnshire Posy” by Percy Grainger, “An American Elegy” by Frank Ticheli and “Selections from Les Misérables,” arranged by Warren Barker.

Admission is free; a $5 donation is suggested. More information is available at rockvilleconcertband.org.

Join Clara on her magi-cal journey! The Rockville Civic Ballet, directed by Eleanor Simpson and Erin Kwong, will perform “The Nutcracker.”
