Celebrate the Season with Holiday Performances and Art

Experience the timeless magic of “The Nutcracker,” the warmth of choirs and concert bands, and art, this December at Rockville Civic Center, 603 Edmonston Drive. 

Join Clara on her magical journey! The Rockville Civic Ballet, directed by Eleanor Simpson and Erin Kwong, will perform “The Nutcracker.” 

Tickets cost $17; $13 for children 12 and younger and seniors 60 and older. Group rates are available: $16.50 for seven or more adult tickets and $12.50 for 10 or more children or senior tickets.

Meet the artists of the Rockville Art League Juried Members’ Winter Show, 1:30-3:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 7, at the Glenview Mansion Art Gallery. 

Art of varied media from the league will be on display at the gallery from Dec. 7-Jan. 16. 

The Rockville Art League was founded in 1957 by a collective of artists in Rockville and the surrounding area. In 1958, RAL was incorporated as a nonprofit organization to promote development of the fine arts within its membership and the community.

The gallery is on the second floor of Glenview Mansion and is wheelchair accessible. Hours are 9 a.m.- 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. The gallery is closed on city holidays.

Warren Miller’s 76th Annual Film Tour featuring the premiere of “SNO-CIETY,” hosted by Bruce Rankin and The SKI Center LTD. 

A portion of each ticket sale benefits the Whitetail and Liberty educational foundations. 

Join Olympians, urban riders and local legends celebrating the spirit of the season, from the Scottish Highlands and Finland to Whitewater, British Columbia, and a Denver hometown terrain park.

Children and families can enjoy games, arts and crafts, face painting and fun costumed characters. Step into a world of colorful construction with the Rockville Science Center and make festive gingerbread houses from bright, computer-cut cardstock pieces, then decorate them for the holiday season. 

Tickets are $8 for residents, $10 for nonresidents and free for chaperones 18 and older.

A musical celebration of light, laughter and holiday spirit, directed by Christine Higley, featuring “A Christmas Intrada,” “Rhapsody for Hanukkah,” “Lux Aurumque” and “Sleigh Ride.”

The Rockville Chorus will perform John Rutter’s “Requiem,” Herbert Fromm’s “Chanukah Madrigal,” Mari Isabel Valverde’s “Patterns on the Snow” and arranger Peter J. Wilhousky’s “Carol of the Bells,” directed by Linda Garrettson and accompanied by Arielle Bayer.
