Martin Luther King Jr. Day Closures and Collection Schedule Changes
City Hall and most city facilities will be closed on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Monday, Jan. 19. The Rockville Swim and Fitness Center and the Rockville Skate Park will be open on Jan. 19. All other city facilities will be closed in observance of the holiday. During the holiday week, recycling, trash and yard waste collections will occur one day later than usual. Eagle Scout candidate Ray Cai recently completed an ecological restoration project at Croydon Creek Nature Center. His team from Rockville Troop 447 removed invasive plant species from the meadow adjacent to the nature center and established a 60-square-foot pilot plot of native plants. The new plantings will support local pollinators and serve as a test site to guide future meadow restoration efforts.
