Free, Reconditioned Bikes for TERRIFIC Kids Who Do Good Deeds
February 3, 2026

Registration is open until Tuesday, Feb. 17 — or until spots are filled — for the 2026 TERRIFIC Challenge, a program that provides free, refurbished bicycles and helmets to Rockville students in grades 1-5 who complete acts of service in their community.
The TERRIFIC Challenge celebrates outstanding kids who demonstrate Trustworthiness, Earnestness, Respect, Responsibility, Involvement, Fairness, Industriousness and Care.
Participants who complete six of 16 approved good deeds, such as volunteering with a local charity, helping a neighbor or contributing to a clean school environment, will receive a reconditioned bicycle and helmet at no cost.
Due to the limited number of bicycles available, preregistration is required. Families of selected participants will receive instructions on how to track and submit completed good deeds. Additional program information will be sent by email on Monday, March 2.
For questions or more information, call 240-314-8620 or email registration@rockvillemd.gov. Details are also available at rockvillemd.gov/terrificbikes. The program also accepts bicycle donations. Donated bikes are refurbished and awarded to participating students. To donate a bicycle, contact Rockville Bike Hub at rockvillebikehub@gmail.com or visit rockvillebikehub.org.
