One Student Injured, Suspect in Custody Following Shooting at Wootton High School

Monday, Feb. 9 at 5:20 p.m.: This press release has been updated to reflect that the reunification location for all students is Robert Frost Middle School.
The following is a brief summary of events regarding a shooting at Thomas S. Wootton High School.
At approximately 2:15 p.m., Montgomery County Police Department 1st District officers and Rockville City Police Department officers were dispatched to the school for a reported shooting.
The first arriving officers located the victim in a hallway inside the school.
The student victim was found with one gunshot wound and transported to an area hospital in stable condition.
The suspect, also a student, was quickly identified and arrested a short time later near the school. At this time, there is no further threat to public safety.
Students remain inside the school and are expected to be released shortly.
The reunification location for all students is Robert Frost Middle School, 9201 Scott Drive.
A media briefing is scheduled for 6 p.m. at the intersection of Hurley Avenue and Wootton Parkway.
