Pothole Patrol Rolls Out in April

March 12, 2026

Rockville’s Department of Public Works will begin its annual spring pothole inspection and repair program in early April, following a winter marked by repeated freeze-thaw cycles that can weaken pavement.

During the first two weeks of April, city crews will conduct a citywide assessment of roadways to identify potholes and other pavement damage caused by winter weather. As crews inspect streets, they will repair eligible potholes on the spot and schedule more extensive pavement deterioration for follow-up work later this year.

“Winter weather can have a significant impact on asphalt surfaces,” said John W. Hollida, operations maintenance superintendent for the City of Rockville’s Department of Public Works. “We want residents to know we have a plan to assess and address potholes and that we will be working quickly this spring to make roads smoother and safer.”

Community members can assist by reporting potholes and other roadway concerns through the city’s online road and traffic issue report form. Include the exact location so crews can respond efficiently. Residents are encouraged to report issues as soon as they are noticed so repairs can be made as part of the ongoing inspection schedule.

The spring effort is part of Rockville’s broader planned street repairs and asphalt maintenance program, which helps preserve roadway conditions and improve driving safety.
