Rockville Relaunches Bank On Coalition During Financial Literacy Month
May 1, 2026
As part of the national Bank On movement, Rockville relaunched its Bank On Rockville Coalition in April to expand access to safe, affordable bank accounts and connect residents to financial empowerment resources.
The coalition brings together city departments, financial institutions, nonprofits and community partners with the shared goal of supporting residents’ long-term financial well-being and upward economic mobility. Resources available through the coalition include emergency assistance, credit and housing counseling, and workforce support.
The city’s Department of Housing and Community Development led the relaunch effort, with Homeownership Programs Specialist Lauren Sukol guiding the initiative over the past six months. DHCD Collective Impact Manager Nik Sushka will continue building on that work alongside coalition partners and colleagues across DHCD’s Housing and Community Services divisions.
In April, four organizations joined the Mayor and Council in a proclamation recognizing the initiative: DHCD, Truist Bank, CareerCatchers and the Latino Economic Development Center. The proclamation encouraged Rockville residents to build financial knowledge and skills during Financial Literacy Month.
The coalition plans to offer financial empowerment programming for residents throughout the summer.
