Independence Day Closures
Rockville City Hall and some city facilities will be closed Friday, July 3, in observance of Independence Day. Recycling, yard waste and refuse collection will not be affected. Click here to learn more.
Kiera Newell, a student at Bayard Rustin Elementary School, joined Mayor Monique Ashton at the May 11 Mayor and Council meeting. Kiera read the essay she submitted in the Maryland Municipal League’s annual “If I Were Mayor” contest, for which she earned the honor of serving as Rockville’s Mayor for a Day.
During her honorary day, Kiera toured City Hall, the Rockville City Police Department Headquarters, the Rockville Equipment Show and Croydon Creek Nature Center. She also took part in the city’s 82nd Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony and received a commemorative Rockville street sign bearing her name.
