Explore Rockville’s Finances With New Transparency Portal

Residents can now more easily follow the money through Rockville’s new online financial transparency portal.
The interactive portal provides high-level summaries of the city’s revenues, expenditures and debt, with options to explore the figures in greater detail. Users can compare financial data across multiple years, filter information by fund and department, switch between chart formats, and download data.
Users can drill down to examine individual revenue sources and departmental spending, review historical trends, and see per-capita figures. By entering a home value, users can also view an estimate of how their property taxes contribute to different spending categories.
The portal also provides demographic information and explanations of the city’s fund balance policies, Capital Improvements Program and approach to debt management.

The portal follows the launch of Rockville’s first digital budget book and is part of the city’s continuing effort to make financial information more accessible, understandable and useful. The digital budget offers interactive charts and graphs, supports translation, and is designed for accessibility.
Community members can also help shape the Fiscal Year 2028 budget by completing the community budget priorities survey or proposing a capital improvement project. Both opportunities remain open through Thursday, Oct. 1. For more details, see the article on this page.
