Help Shape Rockville’s Economic Development Strategy at November Community Meeting
October 30, 2026
Rockville’s effort to create the city’s first-ever economic development strategic plan is underway, with a community meeting this month offering an opportunity to help shape the city’s economic future.
The meeting will be held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 12, in the Mayor and Council chamber at City Hall, 111 Maryland Ave., with an option to participate online via Webex. The discussion will focus on targeting and opportunity assessment.
Another community meeting is scheduled for 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 14, to discuss implementation framework. That meeting will also be held in the Mayor and Council chamber at City Hall, with an option to participate online.
Find details on how to attend the meetings on the plan’s Engage Rockville page.
By engaging residents, businesses, institutions, property owners, investors and other stakeholders, the city is giving the whole community an opportunity to help shape the plan’s goals, strategies and implementation.
An external working group comprising business leaders and other city economic development partners continues to meet this fall and winter. Feedback from the working group will help frame and prioritize actions for city leadership to consider.
Before the plan is presented to the Mayor and Council for adoption, its development will include a baseline and comparative analysis, real estate market trend analysis and forecast, site identification and readiness analysis, economic competitiveness analysis, economic development strategies and recommendations, identification of potential impacts and challenges, and drafting of the implementation plan.
The resulting framework will help the city make strategic decisions that support long-term economic vitality and maximize the impact of public investments.
