Step back in time at Beall-Dawson Historic Park, a charming 1.5-acre getaway where history comes to life! Wander past historical buildings, stroll through beautiful gardens, and relax on park benches surrounded by nature. Parking is a breeze, and yes, your furry friends are welcome on a leash! This park isn’t just any old green space – it’s home to two historic gems: the Beall-Dawson House and the Stonestreet Museum of 19th Century Medicine.

The Beall-Dawson House was built in 1815 for Upton Beall and his family. Beall served as Clerk of the Montgomery County Court. The house remained a private residence until 1965, when it was purchased by the city and eventually converted into a historic park that is currently maintained by Montgomery History, the county’s historical society.

The Stonestreet Museum of 19th Century Medicine is a one-room doctor’s office built for Dr. Edward E. Stonestreet and used by him from 1852 to 1903. It now contains exhibits on 19th-century medicine and the life of a county doctor. The building originally stood in front of Dr. Stonestreet’s home at Monroe Street and East Montgomery Avenue, but was relocated to its current site in 1972. It also served as the first public library in Rockville and as a ticket office for the Rockville Fair.
