Anderson Park-Plymouth Woods Stream Restoration

In partnership with the Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration, the City of Rockville is making improvements to the Anderson Park Plymouth Woods stream located within the Watts Branch Watershed, which is part of the larger Potomac River Watershed.

The goals of the project are to:

  • Enhance the watershed through stream restoration, wetlands, and reforestation.
  • Protect public and private property and infrastructure.
  • Improve the water quality of the watershed to protect the Chesapeake Bay.

Improvements will include:

  • Reducing erosion threatening public infrastructure, private property, and mature trees.
  • Enhancing riparian buffer and wetlands.
  • Providing long-term channel stability.
  • Reducing invasive species.
  • Reestablishing native vegetation.
  • Reducing pollutants to the Chesapeake Bay.

  • Cost of Design: $454,000 in total; $269,000 funded by the city and $185,000 funded by
    Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration.
  • Cost of Construction: $4,288,000 in total; $2,728,000 funded by the city and $1,560,000 funded by Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration.
