Public Art Surveys Seek Community Input

Rockville wants feedback on public art projects planned for RedGate Park and five new bike fix-it stations.
The RedGate Park survey asks visitors what they value about the park and where public art could best enhance the visitor experience. Participants can comment on options that include sculptures, light installations, shade structures and art incorporated into trails, signs or the proposed amphitheater.
A second survey will help guide the design of artful signs at each of the city’s five new bike fix-it stations. Questions focus on whether the signs should highlight the surrounding neighborhood, local history, nature or other characteristics of each location.
Both surveys also allow participants to volunteer for an art selection committee.

Mural Grant Program Aims to Put More Art on Private Buildings
Rockville’s new Murals in Private Development Grant Pilot Program will launch soon, and owners or property managers of retail, commercial or mixed-use properties might be eligible to apply.
The program will fund three grants of $12,500 each with a required match from the applicant.
The city will host a virtual technical session to provide details about the program and the application process at noon, Monday, July 13.
