Four Locations Make Composting Easy — and Free

July 1, 2026

Rockville offers four food scraps drop-off locations to make composting easy, keeping valuable materials out of landfills and helping to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The sites are located at:

  • Maintenance Facility, 4625 Rothgeb Drive.
  • Potomac Woods Park, 1380 Stratton Drive.
  • Twinbrook Community Recreation Center, 12920 Twinbrook Parkway.
  • Rockville Senior Center, 1150 Carnation Drive.
Compost Drop Off Do's and Dont's

Food scraps are picked up weekly by a commercial contractor and delivered to the Prince George’s County Organics Composting Facility.

How to Use the Drop-Offs:

1

Place food scraps in a container. Empty coffee containers with sealing lids are great for this. Remove any plastic or other trash.

2

Bring full containers and empty them into the designated green bins at one of the drop-offs. Follow the signs when arriving. The sites are accessible 24/7 and the service is free.

3

Rinse containers and repeat.
