Apply for a Business or Rental License

The Community Planning and Development Services Department administers a variety of licenses required for businesses, rental properties, vendors, and certain regulated activities within the City of Rockville.

An Amusement/Game Machine License is required for all amusement and game machines operated within Rockville city limits.

A Pool/Billiard Room License is required for all commercial properties with pool or billiards on the premises.

A Hawker, Peddler, Solicitor License is required for any person to go from house to house in the City of Rockville for the purpose of hawking, selling, peddling, vending, or offering for sale goods, wares, merchandise, services, or food of any kind.

A Gasfitter License is required for contractors offering services with gasfitting work.

A Public Event License is required for any public or private events that interfere with the public right-of-way, including street closures.

A Hotel/Motel License is required for to manage a hotel/motel business within Rockville city limits.

A Rental Apartment Complex License is required to establish or renew a multifamily rental apartment complex.

The map below provides general information about all the licensed multifamily properties in the city, including license status, unit types, rental rates, and whether the property was subject to enhanced inspections.

Enhanced Inspections

The enhanced inspection program applies to rental facilities in multi-unit buildings that have failed inspections performed under this chapter or have otherwise been subject to notices of violation or citations under this chapter or Chapter 5, Article XII of the Rockville City Code. The program requires an expanded inspection sample of at least 25% of the dwelling units for the renewal of an existing rental license.
