Metered Parking

About Metered Parking

A close-up of two green parking meters with stickers indicating pay-by-app options, situated in front of a metal railing and stairs.

The City of Rockville offers nearly 500 metered parking spaces. Accepted payment methods vary by meter. The city does not operate any parking garages.

All metered spaces in the city are free with valid handicap identification. Illegally parking in a handicap space will result in a parking ticket.

ParkMobile App

The ParkMobile pay-by-phone app is an available payment option for all meters and can be downloaded on Apple and Android devices. Pay for parking and extend parking time by following the app’s instructions. No smartphone? Call 877-727-5305 to pay by phone.

Smart Meters

In September 2022, the City of Rockville replaced 300 aging parking meters with new smart meters in the Town Center, City Hall, and Twinbrook neighborhoods. These environmentally friendly meters feature a display that illuminates at the press of a button and allow motorists to view parking rates, hours, and restrictions. The new meters are energy-efficient, rechargeable, and powered by solar panels. They accept payments through the ParkMobile app, credit and debit cards, and coins of multiple denominations.
